1st session of “Youthtalk Wenzhou”2022 launched

Representatives of African youths in Wenzhou visited the Overseas Chinese International Cultural Exchange Base of the city.

Recently, the first session of “Youthtalk Wenzhou” 2022 was launched at Yitou Yiyang Village, Shanfu Township of Lucheng District. Themed by “China-Africa youth cooperation and international future village”, the event brought together about 30 participants, ranging from the leaders of relevant government departments, experts and scholars from colleges and universities to the representatives of African young people and overseas Chinese from Wenzhou.

In the local party and public service center and 5G online clinic, the participants had a close look on the modern life to be seen in Yitou Yiyang Village, a digital village featuring smart governance and lifestyle. In the Overseas Chinese International Cultural Exchange Base, they borne witness to the solid friendship between Africa and the village.

What followed was a forum where a group of experts from the Business School of Wenzhou University, led by Prof. Cai Jianna, first discussed the establishment of Wenzhou-Africa people-to-people cooperation and innovation alliance. Two representatives of African youths in Wenzhou, PRECY and ADOFO MICHAEL ADJEI, later shared their opinions to build closer people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the younger generations of China and Africa. Via video link, Sun Jianqiang, a Wenzhou entrepreneur and general manager of Mozambique Eco-industrial Park, explained his vision for Wenzhou-Africa cooperation with his constructive ideas and called on African students in Wenzhou to study hard to contribute to both the development of their motherlands and Wenzhou-Africa cooperation after finishing their study in China and returning homes. The Exit and Entry Administration of Wenzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau also introduced relevant policies and addressed African young people’s concerns about visas, employment and their work and residence certificate.

Jointly hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of Wenzhou Municipal People’s Government and Wenzhou People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the event aims to step up exchanges and cooperation between China and Africa as part of the efforts to facilitate rural revitalization of Wenzhou through future villages. “Wenzhou International Students Practice Base” was also inaugurated during the event.
