On November 3rd, at 00:30, fully loaded with container goods like wires, spare and accessory parts, the cargo ship Makassar was slowly leaving from the  Zhuanyuan’ao Dock of the Wenzhou Port to Manila, Philippines, marking the opening of the second direct international trade route from Wenzhou to Manila, as an important maritime channel for Wenzhou’s import and export in Southeast Asia.

Wenzhou opened the first direct shipping route to the Philippines, once a week, on May 1st, 2021, which is directly linked to the ports of Subic, Manila North, Cebu, Makassar and other ports in the Philippines, also as the only direct route to the four major ports of the Philippines in South Zhejiang and North Fujian. This time, the second direct route will cover remote areas like Cebu, Cagayan, Davao, Subic, General Santos, Batangas, at the same time, the "twice a week" routes can provide more convenient logistic services for clients in Wenzhou and surrounding areas that are engaged in international trade around the Philippines.

It is learned that Wenzhou Port Group has opened a total of 7 short shipping routes, one of which is the Wenzhou-Ningbo feeder service with 8 to 10 ships per week, further improving its service capacity in transport and logistics networking. Next, Wenzhou Port Group will make full use of the short shipping route network and high-density Wenzhou-Ningbo domestic feeder lines, trying to develop Wenzhou as a national comprehensive transportation hub.
