On November 9th, loaded with Wenzhou specialties, the Yiwu-Madrid special train  departed from Wenzhou Railway Port. It will go through Manzhouli Port and is expected to arrive in Russia in 18 days.

It is learned that there is a total of 50 TEU in the Yiwu-Madrid train, containing footwear, sanitary ware and other 7 kinds of Wenzhou goods, with a value of about 37.5 million RMB yuan. The new mode of "combination of main line and branch line, simultaneous connection and hub distribution" is adopted in Yiwu-Madrid train, which ends the "small container to big container" mode that Wenzhou’s export goods used to be consolidated at Jinhua South Station, thus the transit time is reduced from 2-3 weeks to 2-3 days compared with the past. At the same time, the Wenzhou Customs opened a 24-hour declaration channel with priority reservations to provide the whole process of customs clearance services for this train with fast inspection and timely delivery of sealing containers.

As an important initiative for Zhejiang to integrate into the construction of " The Belt and Road Initiative ", the Yiwu-Madrid train is also an important link to promote bilateral opening-up with Eastern and Central European countries. Since December 30th last year, Wenzhou Railway Port had stopped operations with the opening of China-Europe (Yiwu-Madrid) train of Wenzhou, great progress was made in the basic construction, systemic improvement, and mechanism completion to conduct comprehensive works like sufficient supplies, containers source, vehicle source, customs declaration etc., which was helpful in promoting the Yiwu-Madrid train’s transporting volume. Last year, there were accumulative 56.1 trainloads, an increase of 60% year-on-year; from January to September of 2021, there were 75.5 trainloads, an increase of 95% year-on-year, and there will be more than 100 trainloads at the end of the year, with an expected increase of more than 80% year-on-year.

Located along the China-European Train Line, Russia is the third largest market for Wenzhou's foreign trade exports, accounting for 80% of the whole China-European Line exporting volume. The opening of Yiwu-Madrid train will effectively alleviate the problem of "lack of containers" for Wenzhou’s foreign trade enterprises, which will consolidate and enhance the all-round levels of openness for Wenzhou's seaport, airport, postal, and railway ports to strongly facilitate Wenzhou's integration into the "The Belt and Road Initiative", and further enhance the influence and competitiveness of Wenzhou. In the next step, Wenzhou will make efforts to maintain normal operation of Yiwu-Madrid train, and explore and achieve coordinated and interconnected development of openness platforms such as China (Wenzhou) Chinese businessmen and overseas Chinese Comprehensive Development Pilot Zone, Wenzhou Comprehensive Free Trade Zone, National Cross-border E-Commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone and Pilot of Market Purchase Trade Mode, and strive to carry out opening-up and cooperation with the outside world with high quality.
