The Second Affiliated Hospital and Yuying Children’s Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) is a provincial Grade A comprehensive hospital of Zhejiang, which also serves as the Second School of Clinical Medicine affiliated to WMU. Founded in 1976, the hospital was first named Bethune Outpatient Department（Clinic） of Wenzhou Medical College. It was rebuilt into the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical College (WMC) in 1982 under the approval of the then Health Department of Zhejiang Province. In 1988, the name of “Children’s Hospital” was added to the hospital, which was renamed in 1991 “The Affiliated Yuying Children’s Hospital of WMC when Taiwanese compatriot Mr. He Chaoyu donated a new building for the children’s hospital. In 2004, the children’s hospital was entitled“Zhejiang Provincial Yuying Hospital” by the then Health Department of Zhejiang Province. In 2005, the hospital acquired Wenzhou Cardiovascular Hospital as its Nanpu Branch. In 2009, the attached Orthopedics Hospital and the attached Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital were founded. Currently, the Hospital has established its Pingyang Branch, Dongtou Branch, Jiangnan Branch and Qingtian Branch through entrusted management of the Second People’s Hospital of Pingyang County, the People’s Hospital of Dongtou County, the Third People’s Hospital of Cangnan County and the People’s Hospital of Qingtian County.

The Hospital has now five branches（sites）, namely, Xueyuanlu Branch, Nanpu Branch, Yaoxi Branch, Oujiangkou Branch and Taizhou Branch, among which the 170,000-square meter Yaoxi Branch, the 160,000-square meter Oujiangkou Branch and the 60,000-square meter Taizhou Branch are under construction. The Hospital possesses a total of 73 inpatient wards, 63 clinical departments, over 100 specialist clinics and 2600 beds in service. In 2015, the Hospital handled nearly 319,200 outpatient & emergency visits, admitted approximately 105,000 inpatients and performed more than 79,000 operations.

The Hospital has a staff of over 4000 employees including 2901 professionals (505 of them hold senior professional titles), and 140 master tutors (16 of them are also doctoral supervisors).
