In a classroom of National Technical Training Institute (NTTI) in Cambodia, students were chanting in unison the Chinese pinyin, or Chinese phonetic alphabet, thus kicking off the first class of the Cambodian campus of Wenzhou Vocational and Technical College (WZVTC). After the end of Cambodia’s New Year holidays, local colleges and universities started now and then. Fifty students in Class 16A of Electrical Engineering of NTTI got dressed in uniforms and attended their first course of the new semester – “Junior Chinese”, which was taught by Associate Professor Liu Xiaofang.

It was in late April when the temperature in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, reached as high as 39 degrees Celsius. In order to ensure that Yalong Silk Road College in Cambodia under WZTVC open on time and successfully, the College set up a teaching team led by Liu Changjiang (Vice Dean of School of International Education), Wang Xuehan, Zhang Lechao (two teachers of Electrical Automation), and Liu Xiaofang (teacher of TCFL). After arriving in Phnom Penh on April 19th, the team was warmly received by Dr. Yok Sothy, President of NTTI. The two sides held discussions and exchanges on the in-depth cooperation of teaching, scientific research and other related majors, and reached a number of consensuses.

It is reported that Yalong Silk Road College in Cambodia under WZVTC is the first overseas campus built cooperatively by WZVTC, NTTI and Yalong Intelligent Equipment Group Co., Ltd. in 2018. It is also the first overseas Silk Road College established in Cambodia by a Chinese-funded enterprise that “goes global” and the first overseas Silk Road College established in Cambodia by Zhejiang Province, which now has enrolled 80 full-time junior college students majoring in electrical automation.
