Venue: Wenzhou Grand Theater Time: 19:30, April 2nd, 2019 Introduction: As one of the most famous ballet works, Don Quixote has long been popular with the audience in the world. It is a ballet work originally choreographed by Marius Petipato the music of Ludwig Minkus, adapted from the 19th chapter of the classic novel Don Quixote created by the famous Spanish writer Cervantes in 1605. In the ballet, the protagonist Kitri, daughter of the innkeeper Lorenzo, is forced by her father to marry the elderly but wealthy Gamache rather than her beloved Basilio, a poor barber. As a result, Don Quixote and his servant, Sancho Panza, embark on an adventure full of dreams, love and humor for the young couple. Introduction to the Balletde Colombia Founded in 2000,the Ballet de Colombia is still the only professional ballet in Colombia to date and enjoys an international reputation. Itsincumbent artistic director is Consalo Galgra, one of the most famous choreographers from Cuba. The Ballet de Colombiahas been active all year round on the famous stages at home and abroad, performing in venues like the Theater of UNESCO in Paris and cooperating with such world-renowned dance troupes as Nederlands Dans Theater. So far, it has staged more than 3,000 shows nationally and internationally, touring Europe, North America, Central and South America. Its excellent performance has secured for itself a pivotal place in the field of classical and neoclassical balletin Latin America. Through its profound artistic tradition and great investment in audiences and works, the Ballet de Colombia has become an envoy to spread Colombian culture around the world. |
