Bucharest State Opera Chorus, founded in 1945, has already developed rapidly into a well-known choral group both inRomaniaand Europe within a few years, imprinting an important chapter in the history of Romanian music.

The chorus enjoys world fame for its superb performance and incomparable singing, which covers large-scale musical theatre, opera and classical music, folk music and pop music. It initiates a unique choral art, whose innovative stage performance and unique spirit make its shows very appealing. Because of intensive training, the group has a rich performance experience, and often appear in some major radio broadcasting and TV stations.

The choir has held cappella concert with its excellent performance talent and acted/starred with Romania Radio Symphony Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic and famous artists in the world, such as Iosif Conta, Ludovic Bacs, Horia Andreescu, Christian Badea, Jing Wang, Lawrence Foster, Wayne Marshall, and Zubin Mehta.

It has ever participated in more than 50 festival activities, tours and international competitions, who has traveled throughout Europe, theUnited States,Canada,Japan, and received important awards in matches. In 2004, the choir was awarded the title as cultural ambassador of European Union (EU). In 2007, it won the “In Memoriam Iosif Sava” special award issued by the Romania Radio.
