Rui’an Made Friendly Ties with Cullera

Rui’an signed an agreement to establish a friendly exchange relationship with the Spanish city of Cullera when a delegation of the government Cullera, headed by Mayor Jordi and accompanied by Cao Qiming, a Rui’an-born overseas Chinese living in Spain, visited Rui’an from June 6 to June 8. Vice mayor Lin Zeng of the People’s Government of Ruian met with the delegation. Zhou Jing, Deputy Director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Rui’an Municipal Committee and Director of Rui’an Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and his deputies Pan Lidan and Chen Xiaoling also attended the meeting. 

At the meeting, Lin Zengfeng, on behalf of the People’s Government of Rui’an, extended a warm welcome to the guests from afar and briefed them on the general situation in Ruian. In return, Mayor Jordi expressed gratitude for the warm reception of the Rui’an government and briefed the participants on the City of Cullera. A promotional video of the City was played at the meeting for the host to help get a better understanding of Cullera. Like Rui’an, Cullera is a city with rich historical and cultural heritage. Tourism as the main industry is the engine of economic development for the city, which is well-known in the world for its local food and music. Mayor Jordi expected that cultural and economic cooperation relations can be established, consensus reached and a strategic partnership in the new global environment established between Cullera and Rui’an .

When staying in Rui’an, accompanied by Zhou Jing, the delegation visited the Renovation Project of Tianjingyang in Cao Chun Town, the Wood Movable-type Printing Exhibition Hall in Dongyuan, Yuhai (Jade Sea)Chamber, Longyi Shoes Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Rui’an City Exhibition Hall, and the sites of tideland reclamation projects to get a more direct and in-depth understanding of the development and changes taking place in Rui’an.

The exchange between Rui’an and Cullera can date back to as early as 1998. The signing of the “Letter of Intent for Friendly Exchange” marks a further step to improve friendship, and is a milestone for pragmatic cooperation and promotion of the economic and social development of both cities.
