On March 6-9, at the invitation of the CCPIT Wenzhou and the Wenzhou International Chamber of Commerce (WICC), a business delegation from Australian City of Greater Dandenong, headed by Vice Mayor Paul Kearsley of the city, visited Wenzhou. The delegation includes the President of the Springvale Asian Business Association (SABA) and representatives of its member enterprises.
On the afternoon of March 6, a symposium was held, at which the delegation held in-depth talks with CCPIT Wenzhou, WICC and local Wenzhou businessmen representatives on trade exchanges and cooperation in multiple fields, and signed project cooperation agreements with the Chinese side.
At the symposium, President Cai Yongwang of the CCPIT Wenzhou extended his warm welcome to the visiting guests, and then Mr. Cai and Mr. Kearsley briefed their counterpart about basic information on Wenzhou and Greater Dandenong cities respectively.
Mr. Kearsley says that Greater Dandenong, as the center of population flow and commodities trade in southeastern Australia, is a “gateway” connecting other cities of Victoria as well as Melbourne; his mission is to promote exchanges and cooperation between Greater Dandenon and Wenzhou in various fields, such as trade, education, sci-tech and investment；Greater Dandenong boasts quality dairy, liquor and other specialties，and Wenzhou owns broad markets so that the two cities’ cooperation can be complementary and mutual beneficial. “Wenzhou people are welcome to Australia to exploit market and make investment, while we hope that more Australian goods could enter China and Wenzhou", added Kearsley.
At the meeting, the delegation also discussed project cooperation with Wenzhou’s enterprise representatives, and explained a series of related issues, including Australian economic policies, transport and taxation. In addition, a strategic cooperation framework agreement was signed between WICC and SABA.
The talks enhanced ties between both sides，and laid a foundation for the two cities’ future cooperation. It is learned that the delegation will visit local leading enterprises in various trades to seek collaboration opportunities.
Mr. Zhou Huaizhong, Deputy Director of the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Wenzhou Municipal People’s Government attended the symposium and delivered a speech.
