Eliot Wadopian, two-time Grammy winner, together with Chris Rosser, talented instrumentalist and composer, and River Guerguerian, outstanding percussionist, will lead their band “Free Planet Radio” to add the Chinese elements to “World Music”. Just imagine how wonderful it would be when World Music collides with Chinese elements! Eliot is known for his leaping effortlessly between rhythm and melody on electric and string bass; River Guerguerian can perform an extensive array of global percussion instruments; Chris Rosser is a versatile musician who can play fingerboard and keyboard instruments. Hence needless to say, he is specially gifted in guitar, piano and organ. Indian dotar and Turkish cumbus are the tools he used to express the Middle East and Sinkiang Music. To enter into the world of World Music and to sense the Chinese elements in World Music, World Music in China will soon appear in “Free Planet Radio” 2016 China Tour. The highlight of this China tour is that they will interpret Sinkiang folk songs and other Chinese folk songs using the style of World Music and jazz.

For over a decade, Free Planet Radio has been bringing its exciting and innovative world-jazz-classical music blend to both concert stages and classrooms. Based in Asheville NC, this musical partnership began with a clear mission statement as “the shared vision of three multi-instrumentalists exploring the infinite and seamless relationships between musical cultures through the universal language of sound.”

Free Planet Radio performances expertly weave the improvisatory element of jazz, and the subtleties and harmonic vocabulary of Western classical music, with Middle Eastern, Indian and North African melodic and rhythmic structures. Performing mostly original compositions, even while playing extremely complex melodies and time signatures, the trio always maintains a sense of accessibility, spontaneity and easy engagement with the audience.
