The Russian National Ballet Theater was founded in 1878 by the Duke of Nikolay Nikolayevich Romanov as a state-owned organization. Led by distinguished drama masters Stanislavski and Nemirovich Danchenko , the theater was generated as a laboratory of theater arts.

In 1946, according to the proposal by a famous Russian Ballet choreographer, a ballet ensemble was founded with Bolshoi Theater as the base under the leadership of Zakharoff. The ensemble established its creation principle at the very beginning, which was not only to carefully preserve fine traditions of the Russian classical ballet schools but also to explore and develop new forms in choreography.

The ensemble would organize classes for advanced studies for soloists from the Bolshoi Theater, Saint. Petersburg Mariinsky Theater, the Kremlin Theater and ensembles such as the Bieerjie each year to improve their professional level. The ensemble was equipped with excellent teachers admired by other ensembles, including professor Anna Pavlova, People`s Actor of the USSR and the winner of international competitions and Evgeny Amosov, a Russian meritorious actor.
 The main repertoire of the ensemble are Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” and “The Nutcracker”, Minkus’s “Don Quixote”, Bizet’s “Carmen”, Aminoff’s “The Arabian Nights”, Karaev’s “Seven Beauties” and other classics.
In recent years, the Russian National Ballet Theater has given performance in countries like China, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Spain, Greece, Iceland, Norway, Italy, Mexico and Germany.

Absolutely Classical -- “Swan Lake”

Ballet seems to be equivalent to the “Swan Lake” and watching ballet is to watch the “Swan  Lake”. The classical drama caters to both the young and the old and both the ballet lovers and the newbies.
