Situated in about 30 kilometers away from Huling Township and at the foot of Jinzi Mountain, “the highest peak of Eastern Ou Region”, Huanglin is an ancient village rich in Southern China characteristics and cultural heritage known as “Shangri-La” of Rui’an. In Huanglin village, distributed on the hills in a well-proportioned manner are nearly a hundred buildings of the late Qing dynasty (1644-1911) that carry with them the memory of the faraway past. Most of the ancient houses were first built in the third year of Dade of Yuan dynasty (1304), more than 700 hundred years ago. These south-facing old wooden houses conjoined in seven, nine or ten, layer upon layer, are in a patchwork distribution along the hillside. The pebble-paved village trails and the ancient houses add radiance and beauty to each other. The village embraced by flourishing woods and tall bamboos is just like a landscape painting of “houses in woods”.
