Taishun County, known as “home of roofed bridges in China’, possesses over 30 well-preserved Timber-arched roofed bridges, built in dynasties of Tang, Song, Ming and Qing. 15 bridges are listed as national key cultural relic protection units; and 18 are included into list of provincial protection units. The roofed Bridge is a timber-truss bridge with a roof, whose covering can not only protect the wooden structural members from the effects of rain and sun, but also provide a place for locals to rest. Beijian Roofed Bridge of Sixi Town, standing out for its beauty in Taishun, and Xidong Roofed Bridge, are jointly called “sister bridges”, which are widely known as the “most beautiful roofed bridges in the world’.
