Yongjia Kun Opera, one of China’s ancient operas, evolves from Southern Opera (Yongjia Poetic Opera) and absorbs the essence of Kunshan accent.

Since the emergence of Southern Opera screenplay, like Hairpin, Killing Dog, The Moonlight Pavilion and The Story of the Lute, in the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty, Southern Opera had become a prevalent type of opera. During the period from the late Ming Dynasty to the middle Qing Dynasty, four famous accents were created and developed, which turned a new page of the development of China traditional opera.
