At the later stage of the Second Sino-Japanese War, a local man named Gu Jinfang lived by making and selling sponge cakes. Exquisitely made from quality ingredients, his cakes were spongy, sweet and slightly salty, suitable for people at different ages to eat all year round, and thus well received. As Gu was short, his cakes were named Short Man Sponge Cake . Nowadays, it remains famous as a favorite snack for locals. |
