Xianqian Tangyuan, a well-known sweet dumpling, is made of top-grade glutinous rice flour. Thus it is less likely to crack during boiling and chews delicate and soft. When served, a moderate number of 8 dumplings are placed in each bowl. In December 1998, Xianqian Tangyuan Shop’s sesame filling Tangyuan was recognized as one of “China’s Famous Local Snacks” in an event held in Hangzhou by the former Ministry of Domestic Trade.
